Masdar celebrates UAE Flag Day

03 Nov 2020

Masdar joined federal departments, ministries, and private-sector companies across the UAE to celebrate “Flag Day,” an annual event marking the anniversary of his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan becoming President in 2004. Flag Day symbolizes the love and loyalty the people of the UAE have to their homeland, and honors the nation’s leadership, which has placed the UAE and its people at the forefront of development around the world.

Due to the exceptional circumstances of COVID-19, Masdar's staff celebrated virtually this year, with a live broadcast of the flag-raising ceremony held in front of the Knowledge Center in Masdar City, in accordance with safety protocols. The flag raising was accompanied by the playing of the UAE’s national anthem, expressing the unity, loyalty and solidarity among its people.

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, stressed that the celebration of Flag Day also highlights the commitment to building on the legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul. Al Ramahi praised the guidance and vision of the nation’s wise leadership for supporting clean technologies and renewable energy, helping to make the UAE a leading pioneer in these sectors.
