Masdar’s Sustainability Ambassadors have completed their first workshop as part of their year-long programme of training and development. The Shell NXplorers workshop, held in collaboration with Shell and Emirates Foundation, was delivered by Stephanie Kechichian, Senior Trainer, Emirates Foundation, at the Innovation Centre in Masdar City last week.
The two-day workshop aims to help youth use science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills to develop critical thinking.
During the workshop, the participants completed eight modules that covered a range of topics including systems thinking and complexity, considering energy challenges and how they relate to food and water, and scenario planning.
The Sustainability Ambassadors programme is part of Masdar’s Youth 4 Sustainability initiative, which aims to prepare the next generation to carry forward the sustainability agenda through education, empowerment and engagement. The Sustainability Ambassadors Programme Orientation Day was held at the newly opened Abu Dhabi Youth Hub last weekend and welcomed a total of 52 of the UAE’s most aspiring high-school students, who are participating in this year’s edition of the programme.
