Abu Dhabi, January 21, 2014: HRH Crown Prince of Denmark today visited two of Masdar’s flagship projects including Masdar City, the low-carbon urban development, and Shams 1, the 100-megawatt concentrated solar power plant in Abu Dhabi. The Crown Prince was in the United Arab Emirates to participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) where Denmark yesterday signed a framework agreement with the UAE to explore and co-develop renewable energy projects.
During the tour of Masdar City, the Crown Prince viewed the development of the International Renewable Energy Agency global headquarters and the newly completed Incubator Building – the city’s first commercial building, which will house 60 companies ranging from start-ups to multinational corporations. Pushing the boundaries of smart design and technology, Masdar is one of the world’s most sustainable cities with a mission to discover a “greenprint” for how cities can accommodate dense populations and reduce energy, water and waste
At Shams 1, the Crown Prince viewed the world’s largest CSP plant in operation, and the region’s largest renewable energy plant.
